Actress Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir has been in the showbiz industry for over two decades. With her captivating looks and versatile performances, Sheeba became a popular face in the 90s shortly after her debut in Sunil Dutt’s Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi. After this, she even worked down south with superstar Rajinikanth. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Sheeba shares why Sunil Dutt was upset when she signed movie with Rajinikanth.

Sheeba on Sunil Dutt getting upset as she worked with Rajinikanth

Sheeba Agarwal signed Athisaya Piravi after working on Ye Aag Kab Bujhegi. She recalls how this disappointed Sunil Dutt and shares, “I did a film with Rajini Sir, and it happened during the shooting of that movie. I got the movie, and it almost happened simultaneously. When I got that film, Sunil Dutt sahab wasn’t happy about it and said, ‘No, no, I don’t want you to do any other movie while you’re doing my movie because I want mine to be released first.’”

Recalling the kind of fandom Rajini Sir enjoyed even back then, the actress says, “However, I started that film almost a year after starting Ye Aag Kab Bujhegi. Then began my journey to go down South and shoot with Rajini Sir. I can’t even begin to describe the kind of admiration that man received, even back then. People would line up as early as 4:00 AM, carrying huge garlands—some six feet or even twelve feet long, weighing hundreds or thousands of kilos—made of roses just to honour him. They would prostrate themselves fully on the ground as a sign of respect.”

He was such a humble man, despite being such a massive star even at that time. I think it’s something about South Indian culture—they are just very down-to-earth and extremely nice people. It was a great experience working with him. He was very helpful. For instance, if I got stuck on a Tamil word—because some words are very complex—he would come over and ask, ‘What happened? Is this really complicated? No problem, just say it in English.’ He would suggest replacing Tamil words with English ones to make it easier for me because, in South India, they often use English words interchangeably. As a co-star, he was incredibly helpful.”

On the work front, Sheeba recently starred in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Her scene with Dharmendra became talk of the town.
